Tanya Dort – Clinic Manager

A Nova Scotia native, Tanya Dort has a natural ability to make people feel at home and her warmth and humour are an integral part of the clinic's welcome. She has extensive work experience in the medical field working with patients, together with substantial and ongoing experience as a volunteer in medical, educational and sporting environments, specifically relating to school children, cancer, heart and stroke, and multiple sclerosis societies. She has also been a long-time Medical Trainer for girls’ hockey leagues.

Tanya’s career may have started out in nursing, but it has evolved to include the business management side of a health clinic. Tanya has completed all levels of Applied Business management training. She is also a Certified Fitter and was an ADP-authorizer for medical devices, compression garments and prosthesis for breast cancer patients. With her vast experience as a physician assistant, she has worked in different areas of medicine – emergency, medical/surgical, obstetrics, pediatrics, gerontology and family medicine. Tanya’s handling of medical situations goes beyond frontline care. Her ongoing care and guidance of patients is unique.

Tanya puts in a long day and is proficient at scheduling patients – particularly fitting in patients when the clinic exceeds capacity – managing client files, working with electronic medical records, managing referrals, thanking those who make them, overseeing the staff, scheduling part-time help, managing the flow of patients once they are at the clinic, providing patient services before and after treatment, looking after those waiting for patients, ensuring that in-house birthdays are remembered, and generally at performing all the duties of a manager, including looking after special details that make the difference.
