Richard Bishop – Advanced Practice Nurse – Wound Care Specialist  

Richard Bishop, MN, BScN, RN, IIWCC, is an Advanced Practice Nurse with over 25 years of clinical experience. He brings a deep passion for helping patients heal and return to their pre-wounded state, guided by evidence-based practice and a commitment to compassionate care. At Halton Hyperbaric, Richard plays a central role in developing and delivering individualized wound care strategies, drawing on decades of hands-on expertise and clinical leadership. 

Richard earned his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Brock University and his Master of Nursing degree at Charles Sturt University. For 15 years, he served as the Professional Practice Clinician for skin and wound care at a community hospital group in Oakville, Ontario. In that role, he led clinical education and practice development, supporting interdisciplinary teams in delivering optimal wound care.

In addition to his clinical leadership, Richard has contributed significantly to the academic and professional development of others in the field. He was an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at McMaster University, where he taught wound care as part of

the “Care of the Skin” elective for second-year residents. His work has been featured in peer-reviewed journals, and he has presented at both national and local conferences, sharing insights on wound assessment, management, and innovation.
